Knowledge and Experience Changed My Perspective...

Ever felt like you were born with a black thumb? Trust me, I've been there. My college years were a graveyard for houseplants. Yet, here I am today, a self-confessed plant doctor, eager to share the magic of turning that black thumb green. After a detour from teaching middle school to diving deep into the world of plants, fruits, and vegetables, I found my calling. And guess what? I want to help you find yours in the garden too.

It all started with a few plant classes at the university. Bugs, diseases, you name it—I was fascinated. What began as a quest for personal knowledge blossomed into a full-blown love affair with vegetable gardening. Fast forward through years of digging, planting, and a fair share of failures, and I've tackled thousands of plant problems head-on.

My real 'aha' moment came while working in a sprawling vegetable garden. It wasn't just about growing food; it was about growing joy, peace, and resilience. And now, as a mom, sharing this passion with my child has added a whole new layer of fulfillment.

When the world went online, so did I. Teaching plant health virtually turned out to be my secret superpower. By breaking down the complexities of gardening into bite-sized, interactive lessons, I discovered a new way to connect with fellow plant enthusiasts across the globe.

to Today and It's Amazing to Look Back and See How Far I've Come

My family always thought I would be the perpetual student and in some ways they are right. My 10 years of education earned me degrees in entomology and nematology, science education, and plant medicine (focusing on plant health) from the University of Florida – where I also earned my doctorate, although it was my experience that allowed me to connect with people and use what I know.

My experience includes being a pest management consultant, an environmental horticulture extension agent (teaching gardening to homeowners and managing Master Gardeners), and a horticulture professor with experience teaching 10 different subjects.

I love teaching in a hands-on way that allows you to apply what you learn. Gardening is a passion of mine, especially growing my own food. Join me on a journey to garden success, and learn how to rescue your plants.
